To deviate from the recent visually destabilising images questioning humanity of its existence, this morning, I decided to read other parts of the paper.
And in
other news, was not going to be just 'read and flip' either, is what I was soon to discover.
A senior columnist Aakar Patel's not so 'humerus' write up
in Mumbai Mirror today, had me wondering, and really hard…
As a veteran of the society, he feels it is his
responsibility to buttonhole the youngsters of today on pressing issues of our
times. But having said that, he has humbly admitted, that even with his
plentiful years of greying, Indrani has left him bemused!
This, quiet apparent from his article titled -
"I know who you did last summer"
The tone of the canvass, to ease in our
generation, I believe was a tad disrespectful.
1. Did Indrani have two husbands or three?
2. Or did she have one husband and two others?
So if a woman has married three times, she is
definitely capable of committing murder! Bad character from the beginning
you see kids!
But wait this was Peter's third marriage
as well. Let's ignore the fact that Sheena and his son Rahul both had
clearly told Peter on what true lies are.
3. Is she Indrani? Or is she Sheena? In
which case where is Indrani?
4. Is Indrani an alien?
5. Is Radhe Ma really Sheena?
Mr Patel, once again being a vigilant member
of the society, has not only opened doors to dissect a woman’s character, scoff at an underserved death, but has also flicked a castle of cards on questions
that the cops haven't thought of after week of investigation. Pull up your
socks men!
Mr Patel further questions the substratum of
this case:
6. What did Indrani eat for lunch?
7. Is Peter really Sheena?
8. How did Peter become CEO?
9. Why is his last name spelt as if an Angrez is
pronouncing it?
10. Is Sheena going to return from
the U.S?
11. What will happen to our live if
she does?
Voyeurism is one thing, but making a mockery
out of something incidentally serious could be taking it to another level,
and may have a chance of misinterpreting the case altogether.
For most of us, "Did she do it?" has become the most relevant question after "Did they do it?"
Apparently Mulder and Scully did! But Mr. Patel is flummoxed
about Indrani.
Most of us were convinced and knew even before
facts had been presented, confessions had been made, that Indrani the
ambitious, driven, conniving, manipulative, cold, heartless, super power, child desserter bitch is guilty. How can she be not? It's wrong for a woman to be any of
these.
In the film 'Guru' when Abhishek Bachchan rose from nothing to Ambani-thing, we all applauded, because we felt ambition and success were not restricted only to the big cities anymore. Even a small towner could dream big.
But when one turns from Pori Bora to Mrs.
Mukerjea, then things get a little unacceptable. Then it's called (and not with
love) "The Rise of Indrani Mukerjea" - slapped on with your mugshot,
sipping something from a glass you probably didn't even finish
cause a pigeon shat in it or something!
In all of this, even Mr. Das, got his two
minutes of glory for being associated to the much talked about (though I wish
it was just that - two minutes) He righteously made statements like,
yes Sheena is my daughter and if Indrani has committed
this crime then she should hang.
What? Wait a minute, Sheena was the daughter
you walked out on. She was the daughter, who you got in touch
with once, in all of her years, she was the daughter you never paid
anything for or towards. And the same goes for your son, but I guess he
aint important enough, cause he's still alive!
“She threatened to stop sending me money if I asked too
many questions about Sheena... I loved her, we shared a bond...last I saw
her was in 2012” Said Mikhail. But the money stopped in 2013 anyway. So what
stopped you till a month ago from figuring out where the fu@k your sister is?!
“I also know exactly why she murdered Sheena. I will only
give proof if she doesn't confess herself.” Are the cops bloody retards(for
want of a better word :)) that you can say you're holding onto the most crucial
evidence in motive to help solve a case that 80 percent of the nation is trying
to anyway, and they, the cops are gonna just say " oh wait...don’t tell me
...lemme guess..ermm"
Without ranting anymore, where this article
could be mistaken in support of anything, I'd just like to say - People - Indrani’s crime - committing a cold blooded murder and planning a second one - as she's
being tried for. AND NOT that she left her kids, or her first husband or her
second husband or lied about her marriage to her current husband, or
pushed him to jump ship and launch his own venture or the number of bank
accounts she has. Yes, all of that definitely makes you "not a
nice person" - maybe, and it more interesting and media friendly. Imagine if a plain jane had done this after turning cuckoo one day, or that 75 year deranged old man who killed his old wife for refusing him food, or
the servant who killed his master for some petty jewellery…no, wait come back…ok
let’s go back to talking Indrani.
So like I said, I wonder has this
case, people who write in, comments, all turned largely and sadly sexist somewhere?
